DESCRIPTION: EPW - Francis Perigal, London, gold repoussé verge fusee quarter-hour repeater, 51mm, 18-22K gold OF pair cases pierced for sound transmission, outer with classical repoussé scene to rear depicting a man and woman at center and a winged putto at left, outer containing casepaper for watchmaker Eric Lindgren of Stockholm, inner with foliate scrolling around perimeter, grotesque mask at 6 and floral detail and birds to rear, bell not removed to inspect for possibility of hallmarks beneath, white enamel dial, slide below dial near 7 for dumb repeat function, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, large diamond endstone, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock with grotesque mask at its neck, signed gilt locking dust-cap, s#10418 to dust-cap. Gross weight of assembled watch 87.5 dwt (136.1 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good repeat function, repeat tone is frequently clear and resonant but also returns less frequent strikes with some audible rattle, good dumb repeat function, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, few short scratches adjacent pillar positions, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with very faint hl at 6, small fracture and small flake adjacent opening latch slot, few scattered very small edge flakes; excellent hands, minute with some finish loss; outer case shows little wear, subtle mild dent at lower-right perimeter of rear, excellent engraving detail, button latch good; inner case shows very little wear, dent to pierced perimeter at 9:30, few dings elsewhere to pierced perimeter, excellent engraving detail; bow pivots semi-freely; good domed glass crystal.
